Bridge Spot light

I will try and make this tutorial short but as informative as possible. Designing, building, marketing and shipping leave me little time for writing, so I apologize to those who have been anxiously awaiting this information. For those interested in the KBOP, it is going very well :)

I replicated the bridge supports using small pieces of .060 white polystyrene sheet. I had to increase the height of the bridge with at least 2mm clearance for the lights.
You can follow a tip from my good friend, Jerry Gordon. He used .080 polystyrene which is closer to 2mm, this way he already had the height and only had to worry about the detailing.

I then sanded down the old supports and moved the bridge forward 4mm. You can move it a little more for an even better effect. I may decide on moving it another 1mm. The supports leave a 2mm space in height which looks pretty good, as you'll see in the photos. Moving the bridge forward makes the spot light work great.
You could also adjust the front open area a little wider for more spread of the light.

Photo of original Movie Model from Cloudster.

If you compare the PL bridge to the orginal movie model photo, you will see the PL bridge is way off. By moving it forward 4mm, it matches the original model more closely.

The first 2 photos show 2 3mm LEDs in use. Looks good, nice and bright, but wait until you see the next group of photos.

Now for the 2 1.8mm LEDs, notice how much more area is lit. YAAHHH!!!!. I dipped the 1.8mm LEDs in Testors clear flat to diffuse them, then pointed them a little in opposite directions.

You will need to cut off the three posts, and relocate 2 posts further back to allow room for the leds. You will also need to file the area shown in the red circle. Do not file the outside edge. File from the outside edge inward to give an angle for the LEDs to face downward. This was also a tip from Jerry Gordon. The LEDs are small enough to fit in the open area. You may even allow the tips of the LEDs to stick out past the edge, experiment. Handi Tak is a good product to temporarily hold your LEDs in place.

So that will conclude this short tutorial. For those of you who will proceed with this operation, I wish you luck. If anyone comes across some new ideas, please email me and I will add it to the tutorial giving credit to you.
